VOTE: Code Of Conduct

Post by sjet »

This is a vote to bring into practise the following Code Of Conduct, which will help moderate both social interaction and formal discussion within the 22nd Fleet.

The quorum for the adoption of the Code of Conduct is 15 as I will involve removing Character Section 2, with 75% being the stipulated figure. A simple majority is required to pass or deny the implementation of the Code Of Conduct.

Vote will be held until 11.24 (BST) 25th of June 2021.
  1. Purpose
    1. The purpose of this code of conduct is to serve as a guide to inform the behaviour of all persons in the 22nd Fleet. It exists to further the fleet goal of creating a safe environment, free from harassment and discrimination in which diverse individuals can collaborate and interact in a positive manner to tell compelling stories across the universes and genres within our community.
  2. Scope and Applicability
    1. This code of conduct applies to all of this community's spaces including but not limited to:
      • The fleet website,
      • Fleet discord server,
      • public and private messages, online and off sent through fleet resources, and
      • any circumstance in which a person holds themselves out to be a representative of 22nd Fleet.
    2. The provisions of this code of conduct concerning harassment and discrimination extend equally to all games within the fleet and are expected to be enforced by GMs within their own games.
  3. Harassment
    1. Harassment in any and all forms has no place in the 22nd Fleet and is strictly prohibited.
    2. Harassment includes:
      • Offensive or inappropriate comments relating to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, ethnicity, race, disability, mental illness, neural (a)typicality, political affiliation, physical appearance, veteran status, marital status, language, or other identity markers.
      • Physical contact and simulated physical contact (such textual descriptions like "hug" or "backrub") without consent or after a request to stop.
      • Threats of violence
      • Incitement to violence towards any group or individual, including the encouragement of suicide or self-harm
      • Deliberate intimidation
      • Stalking
      • Unwelcome sexual attention
      • Patterns of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others.
      • Continued 1-1 communication after a request to cease, except as to officers conducting official business
      • Doxxing, except as required by law or to preserve the safety and welfare of a person
      • Publication of non-harassing private communication
  4. Discrimination
    1. All members of the 22nd Fleet have the right to equal and fair treatment. Discrimination is expressly forbidden on the basis of:
      • gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, ethnicity, race, disability, mental illness, neural (a)typicality, political affiliation, physical appearance, veteran status, marital status, language, or other identity markers.
      • Participation or lack of participation in social media, forum, vote, discussion, or other fleet activity
      • Membership in any other organization or group that does not directly interfere with the functioning of the 22nd Fleet
  5. Inappropriate Content
    1. Any content published by the 22nd Fleet or any member game to any fleet resource that is publically visible shall be appropriate in regards to its content.
    2. Appropriate means consistent with the Motion Picture Association of America's PG-13 content rating or a 1-1-1 rating from RPG Rating.
  6. Reporting and Enforcement
    1. Any person who believes this code of conduct has been violated is encouraged to report it.
    2. For violation occurring on a member game's services, a player should contact the game manager or their division head if the infraction was committed by a game manager.
    3. Violations occurring on the 22nd Fleet's website, discord server, or other fleet services may be reported to any officer.
    4. A GM or officer receiving a report has a duty to investigate and resolve any report in good faith through taking appropriate action and communicating it to the appropriate parties.
    5. A GM or Officer may also address any violations they see occur within areas for which they may receive reports.
    6. A person unsatisfied with the resolution provided may request the report be escalated either from the Game Manager to the Division Head or from the Division Head to the GM Council.
    7. Reports are to be treated as confidential to the greatest extent practicable.
  7. Consequences
    1. A GM or Officer finding that this policy has been violated through a member's usage of a game's or fleet's services may take appropriate action up to and including, but not limited to, temporary banning and/or expulsion from the game or service.
    2. The results of the investigation notwithstanding, if the GM has already removed a player from their game and game's services, that decision will be allowed to stand.
    3. Should the matter be reviewed by the GM Council, an affirmative vote by the Council may result in, but not limited to:
      • Permanent ban from the use of a service or resource
      • A request to resign as a GM or Officer
      • The expulsion of a player, GM, or Officer from the fleet as a whole
    4. Not withstanding any other provision, the commission of a crime or similar serious breach shall be grounds for immediate expulsion from the 22nd Fleet and the notification of any and all appropriate authorities.
